Me presenting at Preston Tweetup The first Preston Tweetup that I organised in March 2009 was filmed and now the edited video has appeared online. It shows how twitter users in Preston got together to discuss how the web could be used for the Preston Guild in 2012. The Preston Guild is a big celebration that happens every 20 years in Preston, Lancashire, UK to celebrate the city, its organisations and its professions.

Yesterday was a mixed day for Stagecoach. Its shares surged upon news of a possible tie up involving National Express’ bus rail operations should the Cosmen deal to buy NatEx involve a bus and or rail offload. On the other hand, the inevitable also happened. Yesterday, the Competition Commission announced it was considering action against Stagecoach following Stagecoach’s activities in Preston, behaviour that resulted in Preston Bus selling to its larger competitor. One has to speculate that the competition authorities can’t have it both ways.

Another fascinating “Special Agent Pendergast” story. Zombiis,Voodoo, Obea and animal cults create a bazaar tale. Claudia has just finished it and sent the following: Cemetery Dance Review for Dad’s Blog The first Preston/Child novel I read, which of course was recommended by Dad, was The Cabinet of Curiosities. I’ve been a fan of these authors as individual writers and as co-writers ever since. Cabinet and Thunderhead remain my favorites to this day.

Whew, what a weekend. It was not only Father’s Day, but my birthday too. More on that later. For now I am doing a much needed catch up. I’m thinking I’ll rotate back and forth between what has happened and what just happened. That way you don’t miss out on anything. Climb down from your couch you don’t have to jump for joy. I aim to please. A few weeks back, we took Preston for a walk after we’d finished dinner at my parent’s house.

A little while ago, we organized the very first Preston’s Castle fashion shoot with some of our favorite friends. We hadn’t gotten the chance to work on it especially since it was on the same day that we had to say goodbye to our little Moqui. But the images we got from the day were super killer. Here’s a little sneak peek… I tried to pick just the so-so ones so we don’t spoil the surprise! =P

The name Thames first appears in the ancestors in the 1880 census, where we find a J.T.L. Thames, age 49, and his wife Sarah A. Thames, and their 11 children, ranging from Preston B. Thames, 23, to an unnamed 4-month-old baby girl. Preston is the right age and has the right name to be the man who married Inez Clark. J.T.L. was a carpenter and architect, Preston was a farmer, and Sarah was Keeping House, according to the census. J.T.L. Thames’ parents were both born in S.C.; Sarah’s mother was born in S.C., but her father came from Scotland.
